Earth Forensics conducted preliminary research to assess and identify potential areas of geologic deposits that may be suitable for use as hydraulic fracking sands ("frac sands"). Frac sands need to meet American Petroleum Institute (API) standards in order to be used in the fracking process. Earth Forensics used the extensive University and Open-Source databases to research pre-existing data of the geological deposits in the northern Baja area (borehole, sediment samples and resource assessments) and identified those areas that could meet the project needs for both volume and specifications. Earth Forensics prepared a summary of the literature review, a preliminary analysis including microscopic photography of sand grains, and mapping of the potential areas.
